LOVE TRIANGLE GETS MESSY

Commotion broke out in Hostel B late when a spurred lover violently reacted to the presence of his girlfriend and her “mpango wa kando” in his hostel room.
The incident began earlier in the day when the lady turned down her clandestine man’s request to go out  citing that she was ‘unwell’. Later that night she went out to party with her boyfriend at Shanelle’s, located at stage. She was in for a fright when they bumped into her ‘man on the side’ right on the dance floor. As accusations of “mbona ulinidanganya wee ni mgonjwa?” broke out, her boyfriend angrily left the club.
The pair followed later on and the lady insisted she needed to get her phone and I.D from her boyfriend’s room. After having two other male friends join them for “back-up” they proceeded to room 124 in Hostel B. They had barely arrived when the legitimate boyfriend arrived and seeing the reminder of ‘infidelity’ in his room, grabbed a knife and went after his competition. He managed to stab the other man several times on his back as he and his friends ran out of the room.
The Security officer in charge of the case stated that the injured man was taken to the dispensary early in the morning for treatment before the group went to the administration to report the assault at 6 a.m. After numerous statements were written, the Chief Security Officer ordered that the entire gang to be taken to the Kessess Police station so that the victim can fill in a P3 form as dictated by the University regulations.

THE CHOICES WE MAKE LEADS TO HIV SPEAD.

As they come to the university, ‘freshers’ always look forward to the freedom and challenges that come with life on campus. However, only a small number of them are prepared to navigate the murky waters of adult sexual relationships. It is a possibility that about half of both genders have had sexual intercourse by the age of 18 when many young people join university. While it is true that sex education in schools is part of the country’s HIV prevention strategy, many teachers are not trained in the subject and young people often glean knowledge about sex from their peers. It is very normal to find students joining campus when they are faithful Christians who strongly believe in abstinence until marriage. These students remain virgins during their first year but later meet fellows who promise to ‘marry’ them and end up having sex with them only to regret when they realize their positive status. Female ‘freshers’ are often targeted by older students who are aware of the risk of HIV and perceive freshmen as less of a risk due to their relative ‘inexperience’. Some of these older students even give testimonies on their negative status despite having different girlfriends and a number of encounters of unprotected sex, with the belief that had they had sex with older students, they would have been positive. Majority of students only have protected sex once in a while and only a few use protection every time they have sex. (Have you done a study to verify this claim?) For some students, sex is a way of surviving through the university, while others even use it to send money home. The Higher Education Loans Board lends students money to meet their needs. However, some students instead send this money home and survive on gifts and cash from their sex partners. Even after receiving warnings on the dangers of risky sexual intercourse, reproductive health and risks associated with emergency contraceptives, students only adhere to these warnings earlier but abandon them later. On a similar note, many couples visit VCT a few weeks after their admission to the university. When they test negative, they assume they have a green light to start having unprotected sex forgetting that one or even both of them may be unfaithful. After infection, only a few come out about their positive status while a larger percentage prefer keeping to themselves for the fear of stigmatization. Both governmental and Non-Governmental Organizations use plays, concerts and other activities to keep the issue of HIV alive in the mind of students both old and young. However all these advances may go in vain as the decision remains fully personal. But who is to blame?

WHERE DO U MEN IN MOI BELONG?

Men know who you are in a lady’s life, so that you don’t have expectations that might disappoint you or worse take you to fall. Men will date a girl for different reason; a cute face, big behind, she is crazy or just her great character. Ladies also have different reasons for dating a guy and will categorize guys into;
ATM
The money guy; he has money and some luoism in him. He spoils a lady with shopping, takes her to town at high end places. He throws her bashes, buys her big surprises costing not less than Sh.500, expensive drinks; buys her whatever she wants from chipo smokies to the latest cakes in a supermarket at stage. He calls more than he texts. One thing: this guy is obsessed and crazy over her. Problem is, that is all he can ever be.
WALLPAPER
Ladies man or rather ladies pet. Mr. Handsome. He dresses trending clothes from Versace, Carvani, shanelle to vintage. He is loved; the hugs, Pecs, and ladies will always want to walk with him to stage, invite him to the room for display to her girlfriends as her ‘boyfriend.’ Sadly, this guy is at most times broke, a player, will stress her but he is the cool guy and takes it easy despite his drama, he is still full of glamour. Don’t get it twisted, that’s him.
DELIVERY MAN
Haha… every man’s dream. The one the lady waits for at night with a sexy lingerie. He is called at night to confirm if he is coming. He talks less but is straightforward with her mostly about ‘sleepovers’. Always broke and most times not handsome but the things he does in bed leaves her going Koo Koo. He doesn’t pamper her and lays low but will fight for her.
HUSBAND
The man the lady truly loves with all her heart and can do anything for him. This guy whether long distance or is around will always be at her heart. He can make the lady cry. Every man wants to be cried for. The lady can do crazy things to please him. But this guy is protective of her. He can’t afford to lose her and anyone who comes near her will definitely almost get killed. He understands and can forgive when she cheats, he calls every night before he sleeps, text first thing in the morning. Sometimes he is taken for granted but is fine with it confusing it for love. He takes things personally and is apologetic. Men, know your position in the lady’s life. Avoid the confusion, to think that you are the husband when you are just an ATM

LOVE ON THE FIRST SITE.

It has a routine in Moi University that everything is done in a short period of time. Couples are made in pubs at stage. Men meet ladies at this place they ensure that ladies are very drunk. This is where people smoke bhang without caring who is next to them. After taking liquor the mission has to be accomplished. Women spend their nights at the men’s hostel without realizing. Men drag them to their rooms and make love with them. They refer this as Love on the first site.

LOVE CAN TAKE ONE TO THE GRAVE.

I couldn’t belief this until I came across this case in Moi University. A young man third year student who was invited in a party with a friend. The young man went ahead and invited his girlfriend, the girl was not in a position to go because she had another appointment. In the evening everyone was busy preparing for the appointment not knowing they were going the same place. Everything went on as planned until when the young man entered and found his lady with another man things went wrong. The man went and took a knife and stubbed the other man without explanations who is to blame!
